Noreen Morioka shares her experiences and insight to what has given AdamsMorioka 20 years of fun, craziness, and—even more important—the bigger picture of evolving culture and more business. Why not? What we do is fundamentally the voice of both. Come share a laugh and challenge her thinking.

Noreen is a co-founder of AdamsMorioka, a design and communications firm with offices in Beverly Hills. She leads a multidisciplinary creative teams of strategists, designers, writers, photographers, animators and technologists in solving complex branding and marketing initiatives for major corporations worldwide. Their clients include ABC, Adobe, Gap, OldNavy, Frank Gehry Partners, Nickelodeon, USC, Sundance, The WaltDisney Company, Target, and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Along with her partner, Sean Adams, she is the co-author of two best-selling books: Logo Design Workbook and Color Design Workbook.

Since AdamsMorioka’s founding in 1994, the firm has been globally recognized by every major graphic design competition and publication including; Communication Arts, I.D., Step Inside Design, and Graphis magazines, as well as The Type Directors Club, The British Art Director’s Club, AIGA, and the New York Art Director’s Club. In 2000, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art exhibited AdamsMorioka in a solo retrospective. Morioka holds the honor of being named to I.D. magazine’s “ID40,” citing them as two of the 40 most important people shaping design internationally.

Morioka is currently the President of the Los Angeles Chapter of AIGA (again!), a Fellow of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), chair of the AIGA National President’s Council, Fellow of the International Design Conference at Aspen, and a board member of New York Art Director’s Club. She also served as chair for the James Beard Awards for Design and Architecture. She is a frequent international design competition judge and lecturer.

Hospice of Santa Barbra is a volunteer hospice providing professional cost-free services to meet the emotional, social and spiritual needs of people facing the end of life or grieving the death of a loved one. AIGA Santa Barbara has been a dedicated volunteer for Hospice since 2010.

Volunteers are needed to help run this wonderful fundraising event for the morning (8:30 – 12:00) or afternoon shifts (12:30 – 5).

How do you navigate being both a creative and business person? Making your living in today’s world is challenging, to say the least.

Add the desire to create and you really have your hands full. It’s not enough to produce beautiful work—you need to know how to market it, price it and budget it.
